We spent two nights. Cleanliness of the room was not good. But from other reviews, I was already expecting it to be bad so was not really surprised. When we got to the place, it was already almost 4:00PM and the restaurants by the lake all close really really early.(Half of them weren't even open at all) So we decided to go back to the hotel hoping we can figure something out for dinner. Only to find out even if you're willing to pay, when you don't reserve meals in your stay you are in no way eating lol (I guess that's on me but still, to think the area is a little remote, you'd expect they'd help out their customers but anyway..) thankfully there was one open restaurant by the lake and they were only open until 08:00 PM, so that was a save. On our check in, I was asked if I want the sheets changed the next day, and I said YES. They didn't change the sheets. Even put the 'Please Clean Up' thing on the door. The price of the room for two nights was pretty cheap so I guess also why their standard can be expected to be like that?? Idk. But the breakfast was included in our stay, and breakfast buffet was okay. It was your typical japanese breakfast food. Will go back to Hakone but probably try other...

Checked in by staff trying to upsell us the "public onsen"... well if its public then why does it cost extra... OMG.... we came for the private onsen but in the room its a clay tub.... not sure if the water is special... but the wooden fittings were rotting. Room smells a little old... and furniture all dated...

Food.... was the worst.... ate dinner for 4400yen an adult. Buffet but at 7pm and they already had many items unreplenished.... cooked food dry and overcooked... steak tasted of bicarb(tell tale taste of tenderiser to cover up cheap cuts), and had to keep asking for more otherwise they wouldn't replenish! It's like they weren't expecting many people and wanted to cook the bare minimum event hough they were happy to charge for a buffet....

And the scariest was the salmon sashimi.... so orange... well... it bled orange all over the plate.. ill let you be the...

It wasn't aweful, but pretty underwhelming. Overall 2x too expensive for such an old facility. I don't recommend at all.

Sheets are clean and regular cleaning is done but the thorough cleaning clearly is lacking for years. Dust in corners and limescale in shower are legion. Door handle repaired with duc tape or door frame about too come off fixed with a few randomly placed nails, no elevators for half the building, old carpet stains (carpet looks like 20years old) Small onsen, just 3showers. Onsen bath in rooms feel pretty cheap as well as Japanese flooring. In short the place is crumbling and it seems management wants to squeeze as much money as possible without the necessary renovation this place needs. Only the polite staff is here to save the day. There are definitely better places to stay, at the same...
