Stay here during the low Dec 2014 winter season. This ryokan is just next to Lake Kawaguchiko. We got this room at a very good rate from Rakuten at 8000 yen per person for the non lake facing room. But we got upgraded to the lake facing room. The lake view is good and especially mind calming while sipping coffee overseeing the lovely lake view.||||There is a Lawson just a minute walk from this Ryokan. That is where I got my coffee and macaroon to enjoy with the view.||||Room is quite adequate for 4 adults. It is like a living room during day time and transform into sleeping room after dinner.||||My children enjoyed the breakfast and dinner very much!||||For me, I simply love the onsen! I went for the evening and the next morning soak switching from pool to pool! I have the onsen all to myself! This is the plus point when you go during low season.||||As for the staff, I would said they made our stay more pleasant! Super efficient, very attentive and polite! I called for a pick up service from Kawaguchiko tourist information centre, It came within 5 mins with driver in suits and new car. Upon request to ferry us to Kawaguchiko station the next day, they have the car ready...

In the shared onsen the showers do not work properly - so you can soak in the bath but not wash your hair. I found that annoying. The staff leaves in the evening, there is no-one for assisting over night. The food is love-less, served at 18:00h on the dot. Be late, it’s cold. Then they give you a bag with a terrible- tasting sandwich for the following morning. Make you own coffee and eat that.
But worst about this property is, that there is absolutely nothing around. No tiny Supermarket, a few restaurants but pre- order only. I shortened my stay without reimbursement. Could not face...
Read moreStayed here coz a friend recommended and helped book this place as a starter Ryokan for us newbies. Small but comfortable little place with an excellent location near the ferry terminal at Lake Ashinoko. Was thankful my wife and me had the Onsen all to ourselves as we were too shy to be sharing with other guests! |Dinner was served in our room and breakfast was communal. Really felt like VIPs during our short stay made possible by the...
