Akushu Restaurant / 握手レストラン — Restaurant in Hatsukaichi

We didn’t expect such high quality western restaurant in a traditional Japanese scenic place. One of the best meals we had in this trip. The lunch started with a salad, the vegetables were fresh, juicy and topped with some freshly sliced cheese. We had a fish, a pasta wagyu bolognaise, a chicken and a beef as the main courses. All of them were prepared to perfection. The fish came with a few mussels, clams and flavoured with some dried tomatoes. The chicken was made in a creamy sauce and came with some japanese fried cakes with yam texture, we were blown away to see how the chef was excellent in mixing japanese ingredients with western dishes. The pasta was chewy and seemed hand made, delicately mixed with wagyu. They even used wagyu in the beef curry rice. We liked the refined look of this place and fancied a change after a couple of weeks in Japan. The food was excellent. Really tasty and well done and beautifully presented. We had the set lunch menu, the beef main, the beef casserole main and the chicken in cream sauce. The quality of the food was impressive, especially for the price and ingredients. The only disappointment was the wine (red and white) and my orange juice did not taste good at all. The quality of drinks should ideally match the quality of the food. The bill came directly after the mains, without being asked if we would like desserts. Especially as there was an hour b4 they closed at 1600. Great spot on a main shopping street, lots of vegan options!

We had an early lunch around 11AM on a weekday and it was not busy. Service was quick and prices were reasonable.

This is a restaurant in the lobby of a hotel so it’s very catered for tourism. Large menu with options for everyone, large selection of western and Japanese food options.

Washrooms were very nice and clean. The restaurant is very modern and quiet.

Would highly recommend as a nice seat down resturnat spot for lunch or dinner. In high tourism season seems like reservations would be needed specifically for a...
