Umeyama — Restaurant in Hatsukaichi

After hot day walking around the island, we had lunch at this premise and ordered the foods seen in the pictures. The island was known for oysters, hence, we ordered two oyster dishes. The oysters were tender and juicy, and so was the eel. For the rice bowl, the sauce was flavorful. The sushis were fresh. The services were prompt. The ambiance was a neat traditional Japanese dining place with wooden tables and chairs. It was rather crowded...

A restaurant serving local specialties. We ate after strolling through most of the crowded area, so I can confidently say that this place is the cheapest. Although I can’t speak about the quality or freshness of the ingredients, the meal was decent. I would like to point out the incredible friendliness of the owners of this place: We had lunch at Umeyama and I forgot a personal item at the table. Unfortunately, I only recognised the loss when we were back in Kyoto. We called the place and they where so kind to send a parcel to the hotel of our last day in Japan, to Tokyo. Thank you so much!...
