What a lovely, charming little Cafe and gallery far away from the hustle and bustle of the busy shopping street of Miyajima. The gallery features crafts from local artisans and will change from season to season. Currently it is Hina Dolls. Cafe in same building is also excellent. Had the cake, pizza toast, cheese toast and amazake. All excellent tasting and good value. Got speaking as well to the owner who is now 80 years old! You wouldn't know it. Read moreGreat little art gallery on the back street parallel to Miyajima"s main shopping street which often hosts unique artists + has a variety of beautiful handmade traditional and upcycled crafts and goods for sale at reasonable prices.
Loving these #upcycled #Japanese #handcrafted bags made from repurposed Maekake aprons, banners + flying carp (Koi-nobori) decorations. Will have to save my coins for my next visit to #miyajima art galleries on these backstreets where you can view the islands slower pace of life, tradition, and art.

Read moreWhile it's an art gallery, its also a cafe. The coffee was lovely and it was great fun speaking with the owners while drinking a cup. Despite my mediocre Japanese, the owners did their best to understand what I meant and use what English they knew, as well as simple Japanese to communicate with me.
The art gallery part is pretty cool too. Tons of little knickknacks as well as art pieces to look at.
My only gripe at the end of the day would have to be that the cake was a little dry. Regardless, an all around...
