There's a waitlist by the entrance where you put your name down and your table preference (either on tatami, regular table, or whichever) so you get an idea as to how long you might be waiting. This wasn't too bad for us as we got to grab some photo-printing omiyage from some lovely people next door to the right(I didn't catch the store name) where you could them send pics to be printed on wooden paddles. There's an extensive list of dishes for all, and a separate vegetarian menu. I got the veg tempura and kelp soup with seaweed (I asked to make sure there was no fish in the broth). We also got the red bean soup with shirataki. They were all delicious! Once you order, the food comes quite quickly. Also, they have a toilet within the restaurant which is quite convenient especially if you go to Miyajima on an extremely busy day like we did.

This cozy family-run restaurant has been serving meals on Miyajima’s Omotesando Street for over 80 years! The inside is spacious, with both table seating and traditional tatami floor seating, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The menu has tons of options—from udon and rice bowls to curry and karaage—but what really impressed me was their vegan selection. I tried their popular vegan tempura rice bowl, and it was delicious. The crispy, freshly fried vegetable tempura on top of fluffy rice, drizzled with their special vegan sauce, was just perfect. The staff is also friendly and welcoming, and they even have a separate vegan menu—just ask! If you’re vegan or vegetarian and visiting Miyajima, this is definitely a must-try spot!

We wanted a simple and straightforward lunch and this place was nice and busy, always a good sign. After a short wait we chose our dishes. The oysters came out sizzling and were tender and tasty. Our respective mains were enjoyable and pretty much what we expected. The beef noodles was not particularly loaded with actual beef slices, but the broth was quite flavourful. The curries were very nice and a good consistency and flavour. Lovely atmosphere and v good service.

This place has such an extensive vegan/vegetarian menu, which is quite hard to find in Japan in general, but especially on a small island like Miyajima that prides itself on its seafood. The vegan curry udon was delicious - the curry was creamy and flavorful, and the udon was perfectly soft and chewy. Didn’t love the vegetable tempura as much (dipping sauce lacked flavor and veggies were a little bland). We went around 3:30 (they close at 4:30) and were promptly seated and the food came out very soon after ordering. Also recommend getting the honey lemonade to drink. Very reasonable...
