Ollie's Yokogawa — Restaurant in Hiroshima

Highly recommend! I visited here with my family on holiday from Australia, and honestly, it is one of the best meals we've had in Japan so far. My parents got the cheese and egg okonomiyaki, and I got the deluxe mochi okonomiyaki (pictured). The portions were huge and such good value for money.

When we first entered the restaurant, we were greeted warmly by the waiter with hot towels and were seated straight away. I speak some Japanese, but he was very helpful, and went through the menu with us, including the different kinds of noodles we could have on our okonomiyaki and whether we wanted crunchy, soft, or half-and-half noodles. He also gave recommendations on what was popular. The menu featured pictures as well so if you're not able to read Japanese, there's absolutely no worries with ordering from here. The waiter was honestly so helpful and friendly and even got my parents forks as they're not used to using chopsticks.

The okonomiyaki itself was cooked to perfection and was so filling and delicious. When we paid, I thanked the chef in Japanese and his response was so friendly, even to the point of following us out the door and having a small conversation about where we were travelling to and where we were from. 焼き加減は申し分無し。 キャベツの水分はしっかり残っていて、麺は程よくパリっとした歯応えとモチモチをキープ。 生地も厚すぎず癖のないバランス。 この日は唐辛子を練り込んだ『ピリ辛麺』でしたが、今度はうどんも食べてみたくなるような美味しさがありました。 サイドメニューの鉄板焼きも素材が硬くなく、噛む度に肉汁が溢れる良い焼き加減でした。
