I used the Bluebeard restaurant on a Sunday evening in early winter. For those who concern themselves with details, it was 15 December, at 6 o'clock. After an enjoyable day shopping with my wife, we were considering buying Hiroshima beef steaks to cook at home. Actually, when I think about making it a special day, I decide that a restaurant is a better choice. It seems like a restaurant that needs a reservation, so I reserve it online to make sure.
Even after walking through the department stores all day, when we think about the steak, we can still find the courage to walk to the store. The early winter wind is often too cold for my wife, but this evening, with the promise of steak, she has a smile on her face, and the wind refreshes us with every step.
Arrive in front of the store. Even if it is called Bluebeard, the sign features a red image of a cow. Walk up the narrow staircase. There are two chairs outside, so my wife can take a seat while I announce our arrival. It takes some time for the sister to be ready to seat us. When we get in, she encourages us to take our coats off because the teppan makes the restaurant quite warm. Even in short sleeves, I did get warm, so I recommend taking the coat off. However, because there are only a few hangars, it may be troublesome. . . actually, we were a little bit rude to bring so many shopping bags, and it was difficult to store them all under the seat. . . Please take it into consideration if you have been shopping.
We ordered the Bluebeard Premium course, with fillet, garlic rice, and today's dessert. I also added 100g Akami steak to my order. I was thirsty after a long day, so it has to be beer. I was very excited to see Yebisu draft beer on tap! It is my favourite, but it is rare to see at a restaurant, so my heart is happy. My wife orders Yebisu half and half.
Reading the reviews, there are some customers who felt the service took too long. As for me, the courses came out very quickly! Is it a good thing? Actually, I wish the master could read the air a little bit. . . I wanted to take time to slowly enjoy the meal and talk with my wife, so I felt a little bit hurried. . .
First is the bluebeard salad. Even though I normally do not enjoy salad, the wasabi dressing makes this one somewhat enjoyable. The brisket sashimi comes immediately. Hiroshima is famous for its brisket specialty, and I have had it often at various Teppanyaki, but this was the first time I have had it as sashimi. Tasty. The ginger pairs well with the rich fat, and my stomach is happy. Before we even finished the sashimi, it is grilled vegetables. The pumpkin and sweet potato fit the season, and the eggplant is richly soaked in fat. The next course comes now, with grilled conger eel without tare, and sauteed octopus and kinoko mushrooms. The eel gave my wife some trouble with the bones, but the meat was fluffy and delicious. My wife enjoyed the garlic butter over the mushrooms.
During the skilled preparation of the conger eel, we watched the master struggle to open the awabi, and when it was open, carefully prepare the abalone steak. The abalone was rich, with delicate texture, and I deeply enjoyed the liver.
The steak is next. The staff is kind and asks how we would like the steak cooked. They recommend medium rare, which my wife chooses. As for me, I am tempted to follow the recommendation, but the fire for meat in my soul will already cook it enough, so I choose rare. Akami steak is lean but still tender, and pairs well with the fillet. If I can make one criticism, three garlic chips for 200g of meat is a little bit. . . well, I expected more. Still, the steak is excellent and I would happily eat another 100g. Garlic rice with beef was good, but the red miso soup is delicious! I want another serving. Lemon ice cream finishes the meal well.
An excellent restaurant with fantastic beef. Unfortunately, my wife noticed some smudges on the the side of her bowl, which I do not expect for a restaurant like this, so I have to give -1. Still, I would happily come back.
Thank you...

Read moreBookmarked this restaurant based off the Google review, then a friend recommended it for their brisket. We opted to order a la carte and got the sirloin (medium rare), mushrooms, baked potato salad (perfect side dish for 2 people to share), and Hiroshima milk gelato and Hiroshima Lemon Sorbet for dessert.
All dishes were delicious in their own right — you could taste that each ingredient was of high quality. We were seated at the grill and enjoyed watching the chefs prepare everyone’s meals. Great care was taken to respect all ingredients.
Reservations are highly recommended as the restaurant is quite small and hidden upstairs, but once you enter it smells amazing and we were excited for our meal. They have an English menu and the staff are very accommodating to explain portion sizes if you have questions about the menu.
We would recommend this restaurant to all our friends as our meal was outstanding (so outstanding that I forgot to photograph the mushrooms and our...
