Uemura Unagi-ya — Restaurant in Hitoyoshi

On my way to Kirishima, I stopped by Uemura Unagi-ya (上村うなぎ屋) for lunch as I’ve read so many good reviews about this old Japanese restaurant and it definitely did not disappoint! I ordered an unagi set which was filled with perfectly charcoal-grilled eel, glazed with delicious sauce over hot steamed rice. I also tried their deep-fried eel bones. They were extremely crunchy and high in calcium!

Be warned that if you have to wait in line outside of the restaurant, they’ll make you stand in an area which is right next to their kitchen’s exhaust fans. Which can be...

Food was good. Service was very poor. Was wanting to use the toilet as we were about to enter, lady rudly said get in line. Lots of people waiting. Same lady served us. Didn’t do anything but nearly throw the plates on the table closest to her and asked is to serve each other. Defiantly not a Michelin rating as they claim. Totally fake. The food was acceptible but the rude behavior of the staff made it as we didn’t want to come back. 熊本県人吉市💁‍♂️  熊本県の最南部に位置し 山々に囲まれた地形と 中心地を流れる球磨川の水運により 古くからの城下町として栄えた人吉  昭和以降温泉旅館などが整備され 南九州の小京都として多くの観光客が訪れ 日本でもっとも豊かな隠れ里である💁‍♂️  人吉の市街地の中に 創業110年になるうなぎ専門店がある "上村うなぎ屋"👈  百名店にも選ばれているお店で 建物は情緒ある趣き💁‍♂️  鰻は一人前でも注文が入ってから 活きている鰻を捌いてくれます 木炭は人吉球磨産のものを使っており 西日本ならでは地焼き🙌  じっくりと焼かれた鰻は 余分な脂が落ち意外とふっくらしている 皮はパリッとしていて香ばしく 脂が落ちた分アッサリしていて タレがよく染みていて美味い👏  鰻丼のご飯の上に 鰻がたっぷり乗っかっているにも関わらず 白いご飯の中にもいっぱい入ってる👍  肝吸いとお漬物が付いて 丼大で¥3.500-  最高の昼食をいただくことができ その後しばらく鰻とタレの香ばしい香りが 口の中で余韻を楽しむことが出来ました🙆‍♂️🙆‍♂️   八代から人吉 吉松を通って隼人までを結ぶJR肥薩線  日本三大車窓の一つ 「矢岳越え」が有名であり 昔ながらの木造駅舎や 山間のループ線の中に スイッチバックが見られるのは 全国でここだけである。  2007年経済産業省が 全国の近代化産業遺産群を33選定し その一つである 「九州南部における産業創出と これを支えた電源開発・物資輸送の歩みを 物語る近代化産業群」が この沿線で見ることが出来る。   しかし今回九州地方を襲った 猛烈な雨によって 球磨川が氾濫し人吉市街地や流域に 甚大な被害が出てしまっており 上述の近代化産業遺産である 球磨川第一・第二橋梁 共に流されてしまいました。  今日までに九州全域で 土砂崩れや河川の氾濫による 被災状況は目を覆いたくなる様な 光景が連日報道されています。  一日も早くインフラの復旧と 穏やかな日常が戻ること 心からお祈りしています。   #熊本 #人吉 #球磨川 #人吉グルメ  #上村うなぎ屋 #うなぎ #鰻 #ウナギ #丼 #肝吸い #いちばんに入れるスイッチなんでしょう #来る日も来る日も食いモンばっか #ありがとう中牟田純です #食は人の天なり #美味しいもんには理由がある #高くて美味いものは当たり前  #安くて美味しいものは超一流 #下町diary  #飯テロ #B級グルメ #foodie #foodpic  #foodphoto #foodstagram  #foodforfoodies  #foodphotography...
