This breakfast is a Must-have in Kamakura. To experience a Japanese breakfast in such an elegant and homely ryokan is something I’ve never experienced, but this will not be my last time.
Food-wise: Seasoned Rice & Anchovies - 5/5 Excellently seasoned rice that is flavourful and amazing; a burst of textures in every bite.
Fish - 4.5/5 Fish is also grilled well, retaining the natural taste of fish but also having the nice ‘torched’ texture. Bones are the natural part of the fish, and id advise to check the fine bones before consuming.
Miso soup - 5/5 Miso soup is self-explanatory. No words are needed for a nice, warm bowl of Miso soup to start the day.
Omelette - 5/5 As a lover of egg myself, I really enjoyed this omelette. Different from that of the typical tamago in the restaurants, this one is masterfully and authentically created, giving it a really different and unique taste.
Shiratama Dango - 5/5 If you’re lover of both a nice dango and the Warabimochi, you’re in for a treat. This dango is paired with the sweet syrup and soy bean powder found on the warabimochi, giving it impeccable texture and a sweet aftertaste, ending this meal on a sweet and memorable note.
Overall, I’d strongly recommend this place. The place takes meticulousness to the next level, elevating such a simple meal — breakfast, into a vibrant experience, one that is guaranteed to be in your head...
