Laidback BBQ joint with a relaxed Kamakura vibe. They’ve got five beers on tap and a straightforward menu featuring tacos, spare ribs, pulled pork, and a few other options depending on your mood. The open-front layout lets in plenty of natural light and a refreshing breeze.

I tried the BBQ Pulled Pork Over Rice, a pint, and a Berry Donut—and everything was excellent. The pulled pork was mildly smoky and packed with flavor, pairing perfectly with the turmeric rice and drizzle of dressing. Easily some of the best pulled pork I’ve had in Shonan.

The donut was a surprise hit: pillowy soft with a light dusting of sugar, and the tart berry jam filling gave it a satisfying kick.

Definitely worth a visit. I’ll be back...

Barchies is one of my favorite local places that hasn’t popped off yet amongst tourists. In fact once, a bartender told me they’d like to keep it that way! Either way if you’re into local beer and really good meat, this is the spot in town. My particular favorite dish would be the pulled sparerib over rice.

This restaurant often has exhibitions featuring local artists, or even one exhibition featuring the bartender’s photography. Those in particular are quite fun!

Also, because Kamakura residents often own dogs, Barchie’s is dog friendly. Just don’t take em...
