Bread, Espresso & — Restaurant in Kamakura

Positive experience overall: ☕️Coffee: I ordered an americano. It was as you would expect it to be! I wish I could have ordered the lavender latte, but there was no option to make it without sugar. It would also be nice to have the almond milk option, just a suggestion as there are those like me trying to avoid extra carbs! I think sugar should always be optional, not the standard. I find it quite disturbing that it’s automatically included! 🍞: we got the black sesame and kinako melon pan. It was really yummy! Chewy, flavourful, not overly sweet, great texture. I’d say even mochi mochi.

🤵‍♂️Service: really nice and welcoming staff! They spoke English with me when they saw me, which I appreciated, although I do speak Japanese!

✨atmosphere: it’s such a beautiful place. A mix of traditional and modern wood interior, a nostalgic and cozy vibe, aesthetic outdoor seats. 🔌🛜 Wi-Fi and power outlets available!

We went at opening time on a Monday morning so it was empty and relaxing 🧘‍♀️

The food was delicious- excellent flavor and texture- especially the French toast. The espresso was also very well made. My Americano however tasted a bit different. The consistency was thick and tasted chocolaty so I thought maybe it was added by mistake. I wasn’t sure what to do when I walked in so I followed what the person did in front of me. She grabbed a tray and a pair of tongs and stood behind the person at the counter so I did likewise, however, you don’t have to do that- people hop all around the counter and only stand in line when they’re ready to pay. You can also grab a table and order from the menu. There’s traditional style Japanese seating upstairs w a big window over looking the street. Most importantly, the staff was very kind...

I love this place! We happened upon it on the way back from the beach and are so glad we stopped in. The drink menu is deep and the bread options look so delicious. I tried the French Toast and it was perfect. All three employees were so incredibly kind and helpful, and made me feel so welcome even while stumbling through my order and attempts to speak their language. We will be back tomorrow when it opens at 8am. I already have my next...
