A small yet chic matcha cafe that serves out of the world quality matcha ice cream and beverage. The cafe is a tiny roadside shop that has no proper dining table or seats but only a counter that divides the kitchen area at the back of the shop and the customer area which is in fact the shop front. It only has space to accommodate a group of a few customers. There is only one server working in the cafe. She gives out menu to customers, introduces their food to new customers, takes order, collects payment, and most importantly masterfully makes the food to the order standing behind the counter in front of the customers. Calling it the food making process doesn’t do it justice because it is such an enjoyable display of her skills and passion on what she attends to every single step and detail in making the foods to their perfection. It is a live performance and a treat to your eyes that gravitates your heart to your order before you actually receive it from the server. The matcha soft serve ice cream is so soft and fine. No exaggeration to call it out of the world class quality and best of its kind I have tasted in my life. Must try when you have a chance to...

My long-awaited visit to Hatoya Kamakura finally happened, and I was eager to try their celebrated matcha offerings. I went straight for the seasonal specialty: the Matcha and Peach Float.
Here’s my review: The first exciting choice was the matcha base itself—the staff offered a selection of powders. I opted for the Blended Matcha Latte, which uses a mix of two distinct matcha powders, promising a more complex flavor. To complete the float, I added a creamy scoop of matcha ice cream and the seasonal peach sauce.
🍑🍵:The peach matcha latte was exceptional. It offered a remarkably well-balanced flavor profile, grassy and slightly umami. The peach sauce provided a delicate fruit complement that was naturally sweet and subtle 🍵🍦: This ice cream is truly the highlight and operates on an entirely different level. It boasts a rich, deep, and concentrated matcha flavor.
When mixed together the both flavors really compliment each other. You have to try this when you’re in Kamakura!

I’ve heard of the Asakusa location and was pleasantly surprised they had a store in Kamakura! My mom got the matcha latte with extra toppings and I got the hojicha latte with extra toppings. My mom typically doesn’t like the taste of matcha but she enjoyed how creamy the latte was and how pleasant the taste of matcha was! If you don’t want to wait in line at Asakusa and happen to find yourself at Kamakura, this is perfect! The service was great (really sweet people) and the location is very accessible from the...
