Mont Blanc Stand — Restaurant in Kamakura

The pandemic hit this establishment especially hard, and though the mask mandate in Japan was dropped yesterday (3/13), this place still only lets one group in at a time and has each party sanitize hands via spray bottle administered by clerk. The clerk is constantly moving from behind the counter to the line to hand out a list of rules and to whisper directions to each customer. (FYI you must sit on the bench to eat! No pics of staff!) These procedures feel outdated to the tune of 2+ years, and causes the line to move very very slowly. It colors the entire experience of Mont Blanc Stand, which is why I describe it at such length. It’s a whole thing - an odd, elaborate thing.

The Mont Blanc itself is made in front of you, which is very fun to witness. However, the entire thing is quite light/insubstantial; it weighs like 1oz if that.

今回は、鎌倉駅より徒歩8分！栗農家さんが毎日1つずつ収穫した熊本県山鹿市の栗を使用したモンブランが食べられる『Mont Blanc Stand』さんへ行ってきました！

「安心できちんとした美味しい食べ物を食べてほしい、そして楽しい時間を過ごしてもらえたら」という願いを込めて作られるモンブランは、素材からこだわり、栗農家さんが毎日1つずつ丁寧に収穫した熊本県山鹿市の栗を使用しています。 生クリームは北海道産の放牧で伸び伸び育った牛の牛乳から作られたもので、豊かなコクと風味が特徴。

カップの底にはメレンゲが敷いてあり、その上に無糖の生クリーム、さらにペースト状の栗を絞って、型で整えて完成。注文を受けてから目の前でモンブランが絞り出されるので、いつでも絞りたての栗本来の味をダイレクトに感じるモンブランがいただけます♪ 栗は時間が経つと風味が落ちてしまうことと、メレンゲは空気に触れると湿気で「サクサク感」がなくなってしまうことから、賞味期限は2時間なのだそうです。 他にも季節によって黒豆・落花生・レモンやベリー系のフレーバーも！

お店は横浜市金沢区にあるフランス菓子「オ・プティ・マタン」の支店です 「日常の中にフランス菓子を」という思いでオーナーが鎌倉に開かれました
