After wandering the streets of Kamakura and feeling the pangs of hunger, we decided to take a chance on this beautifully designed restaurant, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of our trip.

From the moment we approached Plough, we were captivated by its elegant exterior, which seamlessly blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern flair. Upon entering, we were greeted by an inviting atmosphere that perfectly set the stage for a delightful dining experience.

The service was impeccable — attentive yet unobtrusive.

As for the food, we both opted for the lamb dashi bowl, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. Each bowl was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures, featuring hot sesame sauce-style lobster, tender chicken in a rich soup, and delicate Chinese pepper. The lamb sansho sauce added a unique and fragrant kick, while the accompanying lettuce, pot herb mustard, simmered egg, dried shrimp, and nuts created a delightful contrast. Every ingredient was perfectly cooked and came together in a way that made each bite a celebration of culinary artistry.

Plough not only satisfied our hunger but also elevated our lunch experience in Kamakura to new heights. The combination of beautiful design, excellent service, and exquisite food truly made it a five-star experience. If you find yourself in Kamakura and are searching for a memorable meal, look no further than Plough — it is, without a doubt, the best choice for lunch...

Modern Chazuke Experience in Kamakura

We had a wonderful lunch at Plough in Kamakura. Set in a beautifully restored old house, the place blends traditional charm with a modern touch. Their signature "Dashi Bowl" is a creative take on chazuke, using dashi made with a siphon for rich flavor.

I chose the White Dashi—creamy, smooth, and comforting, like a Japanese-style risotto. My husband had the Red Dashi, inspired by bouillabaisse—bold and full of umami. Both were absolutely delicious.

The toppings were fun to customize, and the staff were kind and attentive. A truly satisfying and unique dining experience. Highly...

Japanese comfort food with a romantic atmosphere. We had the cheese plate made up of stinkier cheeses which was great for us. For the dashi bowl you had a few options, we did the one with lobster dashi. It had a very rich but balanced flavor. The matcha affogato was wonderful with bits of walnut in the ice cream and sea salt to top it off. Service was...
