Do yourself a favor and make time for the beach while in Kamakura—it’s the perfect way to balance out all the temple-hopping, shopping, and eating. People often overlook the fact that Kamakura is a seaside town, but the coastline is an experience in itself. Walk along the firm, wet sand, take in the rhythmic sound of the waves, and watch surfers and windsurfers dance with the ocean. We lucked out with a sunny late-November day and a nearly empty beach, making it feel like our own private slice of tranquility. We spent over an hour picking out quirky stones, chatting, and soaking in the calm surroundings. Sometimes, the simplest moments are the most memorable. Instead I’ve got to go to city hall and complain on the regular that the security are making it very hard to enjoy the day at the beach. Especially when there’s an abundance of garbage and silt in the water and the river seawall is broken causing a massive diversion...
Read moreI was very excited to hang out in the city and then chill on the beach for the day. When I arrived, all three beaches in this area were disgusting. Trash everywhere. It felt like I had left Japan and stumbled upon some post apocalypse beach in a 3rd world country. I was hesitant to even get my feet wet. Unsure how this was allowed to happen in such a...
