We entered to this food heaven in a very snowy evening by luck. Two gentle smiles welcomed us and made our night unforgettable.
Although no english menu, we didn’t had any problems to order. What ever we ordered was superb. Good value, Good taste. Literally, we had one of our best night in Japan.
The grilled Blackthroat seaperch was so so good. Mixed tempura was very light and crispy. potato salad - A must for Japanese izakaya- was one of the tastiest we had during our travel. Hot yellowtail stew was very rich and tasty. BUT! Our greatest moment was the discovery of the marinated/pickled Tachiuo (scabbard fish-aka great swordfish). OMG! Fantastic! Not able to read the tables and menus, observing locals/regulars - in other terms two foreigners staring to the plates of others- was our secret gadget to discover what we could/should enjoy. Thats how we discovered marinated tachiuo, she was silently laying over the counter, just in front of us in a large blue bowl. Not sure how many portions we ordered, one after another.
We finished the evening with Snow crab which the seasonal specialty of last days of December.
Big thank you and BRAVO to the Great Chef and his young Sous-Chef!
PS: another thanks for the kind gentleman/ counter-mate for joining to our laughs and offering his cold tofu to taste - that is the soul of izakaya. Friendship over...
Read moreWas looking for a place to eat for a group of 3 when we stumbled upon this izakaya. At first we were a little worried as there were no other customers present, however it ended up being one of our favorite places while in Japan! Very cozy atmosphere, extremely friendly owner and delicious food! Menu is only in Japanese but with the help of Google translate, my limited Japanese speaking skills and the owner's own English attempts we were able to understand each other fairly decently. Highly, highly recommend for anyone looking for an izakaya in the Kanazawa area. Thank you again for the...
Read moreThey tried to communicate with english, I appreciate that. It wasn't bad. But No mention of table charge, which is still fine but that side dish and the recommended yellow tail dish were both disappointing. I even asked how big the yellow tail was, he said it was big and enough for 1 person. It barely had 2 bites. Worse meal I had in Japan in 2 weeks tbh. Do not recommend, especially for non...
