Midouen — Restaurant in Kanazawa

Midouen in Kanazawa is renowned for its exceptional Noto beef, a local specialty known for its rich marbling and intense flavor. Noto beef comes from cattle raised in the Noto Peninsula, where they are fed a carefully controlled diet, resulting in beef that is incredibly tender with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. I had the pleasure of trying their premium meal set, which featured a grill-your-own experience with tongue, A5 loin cut, short rib, outside skirt, and pork gristle.

The A5 loin cut was the highlight—a beautifully marbled piece of steak that practically melted in my mouth. The flavor was everything you’d expect from premium Japanese wagyu: rich, buttery, and intense. I also tried the pork gristle, which is the cartilage found around the joints of the pig. It’s a unique texture—tasty but a bit chewy, offering a satisfying bite with a subtle pork flavor. We wanted to try Noto beef while in Kanazawa so we decided to come here. We kept it simple and got the deluxe meat assortment, some mushrooms, and some tongue.

This might be a bit of a ridiculous complaint, but I think the deluxe set might’ve actually had too much wagyu for only 2-3 people. The meat is so fatty that it’s honestly hard to stomach more than a handful of pieces. There were 2 of us and we easily finished the deluxe plate, but at the same time I’d rather bring a group of 4-5 just to split the wagyu more. And maybe A5 wagyu just isn’t for us (or maybe Noto beef specifically?), but we both thought it was a bit too fatty.

Would definitely recommend to order a la carte here as I think that would’ve made the amount of premium wagyu much...

We came here for dinner at the staff service was magnificent, food and drinks came so fast after just blinking a few times.

The meat quality was like nothing I have ever tried before.. this was meat straight from the heavens.

Paired with some lettuce, sides like kimchi and a nice whisky highball or draft beer and you get the ultimate experience.

If 1000 star review was an option I would do it !.
