Kurumiya, a contemporary ryokan experience steeped in charm, warmth and abundance. From the very first welcome to the final farewell, we were treated to a luxurious, intimate experience of Kanazawan kindness.
The ground floor reception and lounge area provide a quiet sanctuary to start or end your days, amongst the exquisite wood panelling and zen garden outlook. Refreshments are complimentary, including great coffee (from a masterful machine), tea, wine, sake, sodas and even ice cream.
The breakfasts are a must-have, as the taste sensations and value for money are incredible. Not to mention the platform they provide for walking, biking and public transporting your way through the city's adventures.
Rooms are fitted put very well, and the bath is supreme.
Such a handy location for...well...everything!
Highly recommend this...

Warm welcome, well stocked lobby with tea, coffee, sakes and other snacks, the artchitscture but also the thoughtful touches in the bathroom. The spaciousness of the room; we felt like we had our own apartment. The room was extremely well appointed; from the pajamas to the daily sweet and tasty tea. The bathroom with its private outdoor onsen bath was the highlight of our trip in Japan. We used it so much as it was so cold in Kanazawa in December. Finally, the kindness of the staff, the comfy beds and the yummy Japanese style breakfast. You won’t regret staying there. We stayed in nice places during our two week trip in Japan but this was...

The delicate and perfectly functional design, the curated spaces (soft light falling on honey-colored floors and furniture), the level of service and the warm kindness of the hosts make this ryokan the place you want to stay every time you leave home. We absolutely enyoyed the individual hot springs bath which, in spite JP summer, was the perfect cure for tired backs and feet. Long essays could be written on praise of the breakfasts, so I am sharing the photos I will be looking at while drinking my coffee in the mornings and dreaming of that table. If you visit Kanazawa, this...
