I had a wonderful experience at this kimono rental shop! I had a 9 AM reservation, which is when they opened, and everything went smoothly from the moment I arrived. The staff were incredibly helpful and efficient—guiding me through selecting a kimono, coordinating accessories, and choosing a hair ornament. I’ve always known that putting on a kimono involves many steps, but seeing how quickly and skillfully they dressed me in person gave me a whole new appreciation for the process.
They offer to store your belongings in a large blue bag while you're out, there's a small fee if you need more than one bag.
I also booked a 1-hour photoshoot. The photographers met us at the shop and took beautiful photos around Kenroku-en. They were great at guiding us through poses and used a translation device to help bridge the language gap, which was very thoughtful since we only know limited Japanese.
Throughout the day, I received so many compliments on the kimono—it was such a special experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
Tip: I highly recommend booking a reservation for the first time slot in the morning. The shop gets busy quickly, and arriving early not only lets you enjoy your photoshoot before the crowds build up, but also gives you first pick of the prettiest kimonos and accessories before...
Read moreMy mom and I had a wonderful time! 100% recommend! This is not our first time wearing kimono, but we were impressed. •🇬🇧English support available. Friendly! •🛄You store your stuff there. Basically, show up in regular clothes and leave them there, and any belongings you don't need for the day. •👛They have matching purses, so don't worry! •🥿They have the geta (sandles), but if you are worried about comfort, your own shoes are fine. Boots or sandals are especially recommended, Japanese ladies wear boots with kimono too! •👘Large selection of various patterns and price points. •🫄I had to wear a tall/large kimono (173cm/5'9"), but they gave me an upgraded accessory for free, and they were very kind about breaking the news to me ❤️🔥 •🎨They will help you choose everything if you're not sure what matches! •🎀The hair styling is quick & really worth it! You can keep your hair like that after! (They keep the accessory though.) •🚻The restrooms are downstairs in the cafe. •⏰From entering to exiting the shop, getting dressed took around 45-60 minutes (depends on crowds), but getting undressed into regular...
Read moreReserved a time in the morning to be dressed in my own yukata. It was quite busy with other customers when I arrived, so I do recommend booking a time beforehand, especially if you have other commitments.
The staff were incredibly helpful, polite, and professional. They were very accommodating in letting me bring my own yukata and dressed me in it. They even let me borrow a few accessories I needed! Any language barrier issues could be resolved through a translation app, so there weren't any problems with communication.
They do charge a little extra than the standard yukata rental plan if you bring your own, but I didn't mind paying since it was very important to me to wear my own. I couldn't find an option for a 'bring your own' plan when booking on the site, so I chose the standard yukata plan. I just paid the extra at the shop.
Their Kenrokuen location is right next to the garden, so it's extremely convenient if you want to take photos there. Had a great experience overall with the shop and would definitely recommend if you're doing a shoot at Kenrokuen. Thank...
