Interesting interior that has a strong Taisho vibe, but is very dated in some areas. The room and bed was very comfortable, and I really enjoyed the pretty ceramics they provided in the room and in the breakfast dinning area.
The live piano music at 9:10pm was pleasant and relaxing. The lobby is cute with stained glass windows and old fashion chairs. Thereâs a nice omiyage shop as well.
The service was a little rough- despite many people working, a lot of them seemed confused about what to do and couldnât accommodate our requests (even in Japanese). Also, a woman working in the onsen replenishing the towels was rude to my family members. For the price and atmosphere, it would be nice if the service reflected that.
The onsen is nice, but is not large enough to accommodate the amount of guests. Both times we went, there were ladies who had to wait for shower space to open up. The onsen has a nice temperature, but is pretty simple. The dry sauna is nice, but doesnât have a clock to track the time- only an hourglass.
The location is very convenient, and thereâs a parking lot under the hotel. Itâs right next to Kanazawa castle and the beautiful gardens sounding it.
Last thing to mention, the elevators are very annoying. They are very small for a hotel, and the doors close so quickly!
Overall, our stay was comfortable and I slept very well, which I appreciate. However, I think next time I will look at other places to stay...
Read moreThis hotel is utterly amazing. The location is very close to the Kenroku-en and to the Kanazawa castle, and it is a few minutes walk to the shopping streets and the Samurai mansions. The hall is beautiful, with a classy, elegant, classic feel to it. The rooms are large, beautifully furnished, with wifi, air conditioning, a large bathtub and comfortable beds. Complimentary water and tea are available, as well as stationery. The whole place as an air of sophistication and elegance, as well as a feel of old glory that still feels actual. The hotel has the same amenities one would expect from a 4 star hotel, but it has a much more high class feel to it, from the elegant rooms to the gold leaf glasses to the sliding window panels and brocade curtains. Even the fact you still have an old style key to access your room rather than the anonymous-looking keycards plays on the sophisticated, classic elegance of this hotel. The service is impeccable, with the staff handling your luggage with the utmost care, going beyond the already amazing japanese hospitality. The hotel also features a small onsen which is fed by a local mineral hot spring, as well as live music in the early evening. Probably the best hotel I had the pleasure of staying at. Unfortunately I had just one night planned, but I surely hope I'll be a...
