Trattoria PERTICA (トラットリア ペルティカ) — Restaurant in Kanazawa

Ok Italian food fans, here’s one for you. This tiny trattoria in Kanazawa is fantastic! The food is fresh and phenomenal, the service is perfect. We started with their caprese salad (nicely done with side condiments to add more cheese, pepper, salt, and olive oil to your liking plus the tomatoes were great), had fresh warmed bread (yum), and each had the pasta bolognese which was simply outstanding. It was a beef ragu style with onion (as opposed to a ground beef sauce) and spiced perfectly. [Hubby had wanted the pasta with crab posted by another reviewer but crab is out of season here at the moment.] The staff is very gracious and fun. We managed to communicate well despite our complete lack of Japanese language skills and limited English for them. A great meal for a less than 4000 yen per person! I came in as a solo traveller. The whole meal was delicious. Starting with the starter. The main meal was Wagyu loin beef steak. The steak was a decent size (my photo is a little misleading). It was cooked the exact amount I like. I had it with mashed potatoes and rocket (arugola/ rucola) lettuce. Bread to follow and then I had gelato (ice cream). I washed all that down with three Sapporo Black draft beers! A cafe latte to finish and to sober up a little. Perfect meal. The chef and waiter were great hosts who made my time there very enjoyable. I have one more day in Kanazawa, so I hope to return if my sight seeing plans allow.
