We stayed at Dormy Inn Kanazawa Hotel. It was $250 for 2 adults for two nights. It includes buffet breakfast, public onsen baths, free washer, dryer (need coin), & free snack and alcohol. There's even a manga reading room for you to relax after taking a bath.
The food was overall better than expected so that makes me want to go back! I especially love their freshly cooked local specialty omurice during breakfast. I really enjoy having free ice cream and snacks after taking a bath late at night too, that was my favorite part of staying there. We even got free soba as night time snack.
Their baths and sauna was good enough but not too memorable for me since I have been to traditional ryokan with better onsen so I can't remember much about the baths, but I still enjoyed it. It's hard to find real onsen inside city area anyway so this was better than nothing. I really appreciate that Dormy Inn offered onsens! The onsen was clean and definitely helped rejuvenated my energy from the long travel.
The room was roomy enough for luggages to be layed out unlike the small room at APA Hotel at Tokyo. The double bed was comfy enough and fits two adult, pillow was OK, the room and bathroom did smelled a bit but not as bad as when I was staying at Okuninu Onsen Kaniyu so it was tolerable. I find it funny yet innovative they placed an emergency water jug next to the toilet in bathroom. There's even emergency supplies and potty corner inside the elevator in case you get stuck!
This was definitely a great hotel chain to stay at in Japan. I'm so glad I was able to find this kind of hotel with onsen! Not many offers that! Everything was clean and overall stay was very comfortable. I definitely would stay at another Dormy Inn again for when I'm...
Read moreHave always loved DormyInn. Stayed in abashiri once and I've been wanting to stay in all DormyInn to check out how their onsen layout is. This one has indoor &outdoor onsen, cold bath and sauna. Though you cant look out with a view, you get to look up to see the sky with soothing music. So relaxing during winter. Room wise, I like it that you first enter the main door, den you have your basin toiletries and fridge on one side and toilet with shower (with a door inside for partition) on the other side before you slide open another door for get into the bed area. More privacy. And I seldom pay to get breakfast since Japan have good food BUT i think dormyinn breakfast is on itself on my food list. Love their crab soup and kanazawa style curry. You'll be sheltered most of your way either by going the main entrance of kanazawa east exit or you can go on through the rinto mall then forus before exiting beside classic porter and you'll see it directly opposite. Oh, and this one has coffee station (almost wholeday), snack/beer/juice/wine 6-9pm and 9.30-11 ramen, all complimentary! (But they are missing my Van Houten Chocolate drink that I missed from Abashiri. Nonetheless, thank you DormyInn for another...
Read moreSince 2008 is Dormy Inn my favourite hotel chain in Japan. The best price, best locations, amazing onsen etc. But this time was unhappy. Nobody in Japan speaks English, it is normal. Clerk at reception asked me, if I want to talk in English and I sad yes and he started to use Google translator for communication. Good joke! :D I made reservation with Agoda and there was a discount for people with vaccination, which I don´t have. Ok, I accepted to don´t get the discount, but he cancelled whole reservation and offered me daily rate per 15 500 Yen. Original price with Agoda was 8 360 Yen. I could not believe how much expensive this hotel is, especially when it is not 5 stars hotel and bed was small even for one person. But my wife was very tired, so we stayed anyway. Never again will visit this hotel! And probably also other Dormy Inns. But I think this is problem of city Kanazawa, which is different in many various ways than rest of Japan. For example pass for public transport, which is valid for whole Japan, you can...
