Trattoria Primo — Restaurant in Karuizawa

Passed by this restaurant around lunch time and there were waiting lines. Phoned in to make dinner reservations but they don’t take reservations and said that we wouldn’t need them for dinner.

We went soon after opening time.

The food was quite good. Recommend that 4 cheese pizza. The crust is crispy around the sides and is quite tasty throughout. They provided honey which wasn’t too sweet and went well with the cheese.

Also recommend the lobster and snow crab tagliatelle. Guessing they make their own pasta or have a very good source of premade.

Dessert was pretty straight forward.

Will probably stop by again to try other dishes.

Staff was unfriendly and borderline rude. We ordered Italian salad with instructions to exclude a specific ingredient due to allergies however they still included that in the dish. We highlighted this and reiterated but this happened the second time as well. Not going back again given the taste and quality of the dishes does not warrant such rude behavior from the staff. Amazing food and amazing staff. We visited last year and also came back last weekend. We got pizza and pasta, and they all tasted amazing.

The service is nice and the restaurant is very clean. During our last visit, we dropped something in between the wooden flooring outside the restaurant and the staff took over 20minutes to help us get it out, in the freezing cold. Really appreciated the service and definitely would...
