Wakadori — Restaurant in Karuizawa

Family run establishment made famous by terrace house. Did not know when we went but found out that royal family have dined here as shown by the pictures. There's an English menu. And it closes at 8pm during winter weeknights, last order around 7.30pm.

They specialise in chicken dishes and would recommend the following: Griled chicken thigh Fried breaded chicken with asparagus Karaage

Food exceeded expectations as we wondered how good can chicken get? But that chicken thigh is something special.

Food service can be a bit slow as the grandfather(?) makes each dish with care... So be patient,...

The food was amazing. The yakitori was lovingly prepared and grilled. We ordered the tofu salad which was refreshing too.

The katsu was crispy and so was the chicken karaage (Boneless fried chicken).

My 7 year old polished off the egg and rice set in minutes.

They have a bilingual menu and the service is really good.

It is also a lovely family restaurant run by a beautiful Japanese family (three generations). Highly recommended if you are...

A very local family style place. You see and feel all the warmth from the drawings from their grandchildren. You can taste their the warmth and sincerity in the food too! We ordered the karage bento, yakitori bento and both were very tasty. The fried breaded chicken breast with asparagus that is made to look like a ebi fry was delicious too. The grandma and auntie was friendly to my 2 year old and even gave him a cookie....
