FrantzCafe — Restaurant in Kobe

I usually don't write reviews but I feel that I need to warn others about this restaurant. Me and my wife used to come here a lot because the restaurant has an amazing view and the food prepared by Chef Wes was excellent. Unfortunately, chef Wes no longer runs this restaurant and the food has gone downhill since. I ordered the Pasta of the Month, which is a pasta topped with Picked Vegetable with Sakura Shrimp. It was a big mistake. The pickled vegetables is pretty much the same stuff from the appetizer, but lightly sauteed. It tasted like sauteed leftovers. I just don't think it was a coherent dish. And the presentation was as bad as it tasted. I had two bites of the pasta and I couldn't continued. I will never come back again. Clearly this had turned into a tourist trap. Save your money...

Frantz cafe on the 3rd floor or umie harborland is a hidden gem in that area.

The view first of all is spectacular especially if you’re able to score the window seats.

The service and atmosphere is superb, the staff is really friendly and some of them even speak English or will use a translator app to communicate with tourists.

The food is also excellent especially the desserts.

For a place like this with the quality, service and ambience you would expect that it would be pricey, but it’s actually surprisingly cheap.
