There are very rare times that I'm so unimpressed with the food that I don't take any pictures, and this was one of them. In terms of the location, this restaurant is situated in the heart of the very busy and colorful Kobe Harborland, but the decor of the restaurant and the food seems otherwise. The decor is old, with out-of-place and ghastly stone statues and faux flowers making it seem like your last supper. Tables and chairs are also straight from 20 years ago, not at all warm and inviting as a German-style restaurant is supposed to be. Read moreStrange service experience here. When we were seated, we asked if the staff could speak a little English as we don't speak Japanese. She responded in English immediately then. However, throughout the rest of our time there, this same staff would only speak to us in Japanese. We could make out what she was asking through body language, but I don't know why she insisted on doing this. It feels passive-aggressive?? We are trying the best we can in the scraps of Japanese we know.
Anyhow, food was decent (average) but overpriced. Expected for a restaurant with harbour views. With the views and OK food, I might have rated this 4 stars if not for the strange service.
We got a mixed pizza (below average), chicken karaage (above average), and french fries (average(, as well as a large draft beer and a ginger ale. Bill came...
