(Pre-booking needed for tour). My wife and I went on a sake tasting spree in Nadagogo, and Shushinkan Fukuju is for sure the most informational, at least easier to diggest. It is a simple 9-minute video followed by a 3 minute walk to see the factory, but in the tasting part they properly explain the difference between the Junmais, Ginjos, Daiginjos, etc. The other 4 sake breweries we visited were also fun, but this was straightforward, clear, and more non-japanese-speaking friendly. We bought the famous Junmai Daiginjo. Bring passport for tax free, and do yourself via train from Osaka, is very easy. Hiromoto-san was the best guide and super helpful via email (booking needed - email info@shushinkan.co.jp)

Self-tour is possible, just need to get the Hanshin Tourist Pass (500yen) for unlimited Hanshin train ride and you will be able to explore all sake breweries around the area. Cheap and convenient! 9mins walk from Ishiyagawa station. However this brewery does not offer tour (it was closed and maybe reservations may be needed? No information was given). The restaurant only opens during lunch and dinner, so visiting in the afternoon means no entrance to the restaurant as well. Some tour groups were there so the place is packed and the staffs are busy entertaining the groups. Sake tasting is free, some award winning sake as well. Not my favourite brewery though.

Brilliant place to go and experience Sake in Kobe. There is an English video that is very clear on the sake making process. You also get to taste sake FOC and understand why Ginjo Sake is drank cold. If you want to go and view the brewery, book online 2 days in advance. The friendly staff at the store helped me and my wife booked 1 day in advance, so you can try your luck asking the store. Excellence English and explanation by Alejandor who is really passionate about Sake. He understands the inside out of Sake and the processes of brewing alcohol. He is extremely friendly and willing to share his knowledge.

Free tasting inside gift store. There is also a bar/cafe area where you can taste a flight of sake for 500 yen. But can also order a la carte. You can also buy your omiyage munchies and eat at the bar with your beverage. Selection is very respectable. They also had pamphlets for us to read about difference in daiginjo, junmai ginjo, honjozoshu. A good little break from strolling around finding the place. Note, the cartoon map that these places provide are totally not drawn to scale. Useful for names of places to find on google map nonetheless.

First destination of the day for my Day 2 of Kobe sake breweries tour. Saw these two ladies walking out with a sakelee softserve cone and I knew I had to get it too even in this winter weather! This is also a 3-in-1 place with a sake brewery, a souvenir shop and a restaurant. Limited by the time, I only bought a few items and of course the sakelee softserve is not to be missed! Also awesome with the cold weather so it doesn't melt fast. Able to take a few photos and not melt.

This is the only brewery opens at 5pm. Luckily it is a good choice to visit. There is a video room for guests to watch how they make sake, then a display, plus sovernir room to sell the products. It's free to taste 3 types sake and they also serve ice cream sake (300/400 yen). Staff are very nice and helpful! Their sake won many awards and the price is acceptable. I think it's better to buy here and support the brewery.
