Overall a good experience. We tried to get into Tenryu and they turned us down either because they were full, we we're dressed inappropriately, or perhaps they turned us down because our Japanese is poor. Anyway the maitre d then asked us if we came for beef and told us another restaurant around the corner had the same beef and same owner. That restaurant was Yazawa. At Yazawa it was casual and the staff spoke English. We managed to blow $700 on chateubriand and filet. The price was high and perhaps not a great value but I suppose that is subjective considering I have no means of finding a better value. Good stuff. Next time I splurge it will be somewhere else though. Gotta try all the restaurants!

I hate to post negative reviews about small businesses but my table of 9 was very disappointed.....we wanted to try the famous Kobe Beef in Kobe and while we were told the beef we'd select was "tough" what should've been said is it was chewy to the point where you'd be swallowing entire chunks of meat that couldn't be chewed. the sirloin cut was really good but the "red meat" which we got 5 plates of simply should be removed from the menu entirely. it is tarnishing the great japanese kobe beef name. as an american i've never eaten steak like that in any restaurant nor when buying from a grocery store. the rest of the food was great though, salad, sushi, soup

This is along the main thoroughfare heading towards Motomachi Station (West Entrances), and close to the center of Chinatown-Nanking-machi. A quaint, very cozy, spot with very good steaks, beef stew, salads, and side dishes. Very filling and satisfying. The chef does a great job of trying to keep the customers happy, and they do a really nice job of making the meals presentable like a 5-star restaurant. The steak of course is to one’s selection. Though even the lowest priced cuts of Kobe beef are wonderful and delicious. But of course there are better cuts, depending on taste and quantity, the quality is excellent. Highly recommended.

Essen gut, aber wir wurden bedrängt, eine Bewertung abzugeben. Im Restaurant angekommen hat uns die Bedienung die Grundzüge der Karte in einfachem Englisch erklärt und Empfehlungen ausgesprochen. Wir bestellten das 3er Set Kobe-Sushi und 60g Kobe Beef Tender Red Meat als Set mit Salat, Suppe und Reis. Das Sushi war ein guter Einstieg, aber ein wenig zäh, auch das 1500Yen Sushi Stück, das eigentlich das Beste sein sollte. Das Tender Beef war lecker und zart. Mit der Soße und etwas Salz sehr lecker, aber nicht außergewöhnlich. Beim Kobe Beef erhält man eben die Qualität, die man bezahlt. Der Manager Shiota war sehr stolz auf sein Restaurant und stellte uns für die Fotos auch den Rahmen mit der Auszeichnung hin. Also fertig mit Essen waren, kam er erneut zu uns. Er drängte uns, eine Bewertung zu schreiben. Er blieb am Tisch stehen und drängte darauf, eine Rezension zu posten. Er wollte sogar sehen, ob wir dies gemacht haben und versuchte sogar, nach meinem Handy zu greifen. Ich bat ihn, es in Ruhe zu machen, aber er blieb stehen. Ich denke, insgesamt ist es ein Restaurant mit gutem Preis- Leistungsverhältnis. Besonders, wenn man einfach mal „probieren“ möchte. Leider hat das Drängen zur Bewertung einen sehr schlechten Eindruck bei mir hinterlassen und lässt mich schlecht fühlen, dort (für mich) so viel Geld gelassen zu haben. Es wäre okay gewesen, freundlich um eine Bewertung zu bitten und wir hätten das auch gern gemacht. Am Tisch stehen zu bleiben, nach dem Handy zu greifen und mehrmals darauf hinzuweisen, diese zu posten, geht garnicht. Wahrscheinlich sind alle Bewertungen, in denen sein Name „Shiota“ auftaucht genau unter diesem Drängen entstanden. Nach dem Essen, noch vor der Bezahlung. Natürlich hat man dann Angst, eine ehrliche Bewertung zu hinterlassen, wenn man bedrängt wird.

My first time trying Kobe beef,the beef is so good,it is cooked fine and very juicy💕,beef sushi is delicious as well .Salad and soup are 美味しい.Service are great ,waiter are very kind and polite🫶🏻 Pricing is reasonable not over pricing ,worth-trying.Overall ,the beef is very good ,the chef is doing good and the service are just great .100/100 I will try again when I come to travel again😎
