Menya Kusabi — Restaurant in Koriyama

This is my favourite ramen restaurant in the area. Ton kotsu ramen is seemingly difficult to find around where I live.

Great little restaurant. Not outstanding service but to my untrained palate the ramen is fantastic. Nice thick soup and large servings. Reasonable pricing. Nice downstairs seating area.

The reason I really like this place is that it opens really late and after a few too many beers this is the best place to go to line...

私は二世でアメリカに住んでいますが2017年に亡くなった母の里が福島県です。去年は二回出張で日本に行く事が出来ました。母の母が99歳で生きているので必ずアメリカへ帰る前に福島へ行きます。郡山駅で降りた時は必ず麺家くさび 郡山本店で食べます。最高。早い、安い、美味しい。とろろつけ麺が特に最高でした。次回も宜しくお願いします。

I am a second generation Japanese who lives in the United States. My mother passed away in 2017. Her home prefecture was Fukushima, and my grandmother (mother's mother) still lives there at 99 years of age. I was able to travel to Japan twice last year on business. I always make sure to go to Fukushima before heading home to see my family (thanks to my company too). I make it a point to stop at Kusabi when I get off the train at Koriyama Station. 郡山駅西口から駅前通りをちょっと行ったところにあるアーケード街入口にある東京豚骨系らーめん専門店。 そのアーケードを進んでいくと飲み屋やらなんやらのディープ郡山になる。なのでランチはサラリーマン、夜は呑みやその他諸々の〆で訪れる人も多そう。 と言うことで午前11時オープンで午前3時や4時閉店という長丁場＆豚骨らーめんの店なので、店内には拭いきれない独特の油の臭いと共に薄汚れた感じもある。ま、致し方なしとは思うけど。

訪問したのは平日の午後3時。前客一人の後客なしでした。 注文は口頭の後会計。

さて、今回は味噌豚骨麺の平日限定のお得なセットメニューから半炒飯（＋209円）を注文。この平日限定お得メニューは開店から午後8時まで頼めます。半炒飯や餃子ライスセットや唐揚げライスセット等あり。

席はカウンターが15席と大きなテーブル席が一つあります。

さて、そんなこんなしてたら5分かかってないくらいで着丼。

こういう東京豚骨系はまぁスープ味わんでも味の想像出来るので、いきなり麺からいきます。 うん、まぁやはりというか案の定なお味。 味噌風味はコクはそれなりあるけど柔らか。そして割に浮いてる背脂の甘味が心地よし。 旨いんですけどね、もちろん。

麺は太めのちぢれ。 東京豚骨らしい王道麺です。

ちょっと驚いたのは、乗っているメンマが穂先メンマだったこと。メンマ好きにはとても良い工夫。
