Foods were great and beautiful. But worst customer service ever in Japan! We were group of 1x Japanese and 2x American and talked with them in Japanese entire of time. We called and booked our seats (talked with someone answered “Hello this is Rokkaku Ace” in Japanese) but once we got there, they kept saying they never received our phone call even though we showed call history and they showed attitude that we pissed them. Fortunately they let us in(thank you for figuring out). We had two servers while staying there. One boy was always nice and kind to us. But another girl, Ms. H that said “My best feature is smile :)” on her name tag never smile, glare at us secretly, showed annoyed attitude when asked about unfamiliar name’s drink and let her coworker to come back to answer the question(then never come back until we made payment. Seem obviously avoiding us), when I asked where is the restroom nicely as general in Japanese, she kept looking at the device, never look at me, then “over there!” with very offensive attitude. We noticed that she changed her attitude between us and other customers around us that groups consist of only Japanese people. She was nice and smiling as normal customer service to them. Stars that I put for only their foods and the boy who nice to us. We were really disappointed with their...
Read moreWe were looking forward to trying this very chic-looking izakaya with a modern, innovative twist. While some dishes were good (e.g. the peach liquor-infused tomatoes or the daikon and lemon salad with scallops), others which would be quite easy presented serious mistakes, like the French fries which were so salty that you could barely taste anything after them, or the spicy stir-fries chicken which was not cooked through. Ingredients are exceptionally good, especially because they are mostly regional and seasonal. But the execution lacks care and results pretentious. I think this restaurant has potential but I would recommend the cooks to carry out a bit more research to refine their techniques for some dishes. Service was fast although the place was crowded, so a big plus; we were under the impression that the personnel was annoyed at guests during our shift (maybe because it was already 21:00 when we entered the place with a reservation). All in all an interesting experience but somewhat underwhelming. I would not come back if things...
Read moreWe loved it! While walking by, we stopped to check out the place. A nice guy opened a little window and handed us their menue. It‘s essentially Japanese tapas, meaning western food with Japanese touches. We went a couple of times during our stay and had a blast every time. Downstairs, you sit at a counter and can watch the goings on. The staff are super nice and aim to provide tasty food and a good time. The potato salad - a name that does not do the dish any justice - is a must. The grilled shrimp were wonderfully intense. All the green salads were great. The grilled steak with a gravy to dip it in was tasty, too. Salmon roe on toasted baguette with butter - divine! They have a suprisingly varied and fairly priced wine list which they don‘t really advertise. Do take a peek and sip on some organic wine (by the glass, too - at least sometimes) with your meal. Finish with a Cheese Brûlée. If you can, reserve...
