A Hidden Gem in Kyoto – Part Knife Shop, Part Art Museum We stumbled upon this incredible little knife shop tucked away on a quiet street in Kyoto—and what a find! From the road, you can just see the top of the building peeking out. We followed the narrow stairs up and stepped into what felt more like an art gallery than a retail store. The space is beautifully simple—almost plain in the best possible way. It’s serene, curated, and focused entirely on craftsmanship. The walls quietly tell the story of Japan’s proud knife-making heritage, with displays that could easily belong in a museum. It felt like we were being let in on a secret. The team spoke excellent English and made us feel incredibly welcome. They guided us through the different knife styles, their uses, and the traditions behind them without overwhelming us. We ended up purchasing a beautiful sashimi knife that we’ll treasure for years. Whether you’re serious about cooking or just want a meaningful souvenir, this shop is worth finding. The experience was thoughtful, informative, and uniquely Kyoto.

Great experience and a gem of a find. Spend 5 days of my trip looking at all the different knife shops in kyoto (there is A LOT of choice in the area). I found this shop on my 2nd last day and I'm so glad I did! This was the last shop I visited and I'm very happy I made my purchase here! Shop felt exclusive though a short walk out of the main area, was definitely worth it! Knifes have a rich history from traditional Japanese knife makers, all hand-made and top quality. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, all in all, a great experience. Highly recommended!

“Not Just a Knife Shop – An Experience!”

We stumbled onto this place while wandering the side streets of Kyoto, and wow, what a find. From the outside you’d never guess what’s waiting upstairs. Inside, it feels more like an art gallery than a store… clean, simple, and completely focused on these gorgeous knives.

The staff were awesome, super friendly, spoke great English, and made us feel at home right away. They explained everything clearly without making it overwhelming (or sales-y). You could tell they really care about the craft.

We ended up picking out a knife that feels more like a souvenir we’ll actually use for years. It’s sharp, beautiful, and comes with a story.

If you’re into cooking or just want a seriously cool memory from Kyoto… this spot is 100% worth tracking down. Hidden gem vibes...

One of the most beautiful knife collections I have ever seen in a store. The staff is attentive, highly knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their craft. They take the time to guide you through the different types of knives, their specific uses, and the craftsmanship behind each piece. The selection is vast, featuring both traditional and modern designs, with a particular focus on exceptional quality and attention to detail. Whether you are a professional chef, an enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates fine tools, this store offers a truly unforgettable experience. I highly recommend visiting if you are in search of a unique, high-quality knife or simply want to learn more about this fascinating aspect of...
