If you're looking for a truly unique culinary experience in Kyoto, I highly recommend trying the authentic Bolognese with a Japanese touch at Bigoli! This dish is a true masterpiece, blending the rich and savory flavors of traditional Italian cuisine with the delicate and refined tastes of Japanese cooking.
From the moment you take your first bite, you'll be transported to a world of culinary delight. The pasta is perfectly al dente, and the meat sauce is rich, hearty, and bursting with flavor. But what really sets this dish apart is the Japanese influence - the addition of umami-rich ingredients
But it's not just the food that makes this restaurant so special - the ambiance is equally impressive. The service is also top-notch, with attentive staff who are happy to answer any questions you may have about the menu or the ingredients. Special thanks to Pierre!
Overall, I can't recommend bigoli highly enough. Whether you're a fan of Italian cuisine, Japanese food, or just good food in general, this restaurant is a must-visit. So if you're in Kyoto and looking for a truly unique dining experience, be sure to give this authentic Bolognese with a Japanese touch a try - you wont be...
Read moreWhere do I begin. Everything about this restaurant was incredible. To begin, the staff are so kind and accommodating, I’d forgotten my credit card, and when I returned, they had looked after it for me and returned it to me!
They offer different wine courses of 30/90 minutes, where you can self-pour unlimited wine during that time, but the quality of wines are amazing. They are quick to recommend and advise on new wines for you to try. We did the 30 minute course, and it cost £5 …. for unlimited wines/champagnes. Amazing.
The food. Just amazing, their local bigoli pasta was new to me, but so good and highly recommended. The Ragu Bolognese was one of the best I’ve ever eaten, and they’re so generous with the Parmesan cheese on top! We stayed 3 nights in Kyoto, and dined here for 2 of the nights, that should tell you something.
The experience was incredible, and I can’t fault anything with this restaurant. I commend the owner and staff, who clearly thrive to provide a top experience and service to the customers, charging very affordable prices, for top quality food, drinks and service!
Thank you, it was a pleasure to eat at...
Read moreWe had such a fantastic dinner tonight at Bigoli. Hidden from the chaos of the streets, this pasta joint is tucked away down an alley way. We were greeted at the door by the host and was promptly sat at a nice table in the corner with a beautiful view of their courtyard. They had a great wine selection and the pasta options were fantastic, it was hard to decide. I had the garlic with Kamakura cheese added. My family also ordered the Pomodoro and the ‘regular’. All were SO GOOD! I highly recommend the garlic pasta. Add the kamakura to your pasta choice. It comes out piled with cheese, I couldn’t even see my pasta. It may look crazy, but let me tell you, it melted into my pasta and just blended so beautifully well together. Such fantastic umami flavor. Inui was awesome! He checked on us and brought us a taste of Spanish ham which was a nice touch. All of the staff made us feel very welcome and Inui was especially kind and warm to us. We have been traveling around Japan and have had many great meals. This one is one of them. If you are hesitant to eat ‘Italian’ while in Kyoto, don’t be. Go try it, you...
