This place is probably great if you speak Japanese and are more local. As a tourist we found our experience here confusing and lacking.
Because we made reservations through tablelog we were forced into selecting courses in advance. We chose an all you can eat option but at the restaurant it was very confusing what was included and what was not. They just started brining us courses of food we did not particularly enjoy and did not understand if we could select other dishes. Attempts to clarify with staff were not helpful.
We decided to just start ordering more food unsure if we would be charged extra. You order through QR code but after selecting English many of the selections were still in Japanese. Screen shots and Google Translate helped however. Many things on the regular menu did not appear in the QR code menu which made it harder to order.
Once we selected what we wanted we enjoyed the food. Skewers in particular were very good. Some of the things they brought us were not enjoyable however. Overall this was just a frustrating experience as a tourist.
If they had some information in English explaining the all you can eat option and better ordering through QR code it would go a long way in making this a...
Read moreHad dinner here and I recommend making reservations unless you are eating very early. The hostess said they do take walk ins if tables are available. They provide a QR code so you can order online and the nice thing is you can keep ordering and the food party keeps on going! If you’re here I highly recommend the scallops in garlic butter and chicken gizzard. In the spring they have a delectable bamboo with thick cut bacon dish, add an order of grilled rice and you’re in for a good time. I’m a visitor to Kyoto so naturally I ordered the matcha beer, now I’m ready for St. Patrick’s Day! At this point things started to get a little crazy and hazy but I have six words for you… garlic butter, rice, thick bacon, seaweed. Mind blown I know 💥. So come by and have...
Read moreAttracted to the restaurant by the decor. Walked in and was seated right away on 3rd level. Stairs to 3rd floor was narrow and quite steep. We have bad knees and it makes coming down a tad uncomfortable. Communicate if that would be a problem. We were seated in a booth and our wait staff brought us water and complimentary damage. Then he showed us we have to order from our phone. We are tourists and do not have the best signal. So it took a little to order the food we wanted. Once that was taken care of, it was a memorable meal. All the meats (chic & beef &oyster) were delicious. Also ordered a Matcha beer, something you have to try in Kyoto area. The salad was fresh and crisp and so was the...
