If you’re in Kyoto and want an unforgettable dining experience, this sukiyaki restaurant is a must-visit. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between traditional elegance and warm hospitality—you feel both transported back in time and genuinely cared for.
The sukiyaki itself is outstanding: beautifully marbled Kyoto wagyu beef, sliced to perfection, cooked tableside with a delicate balance of soy, sugar, and mirin. The staff guide you through the process with such attentiveness, ensuring each bite is tender, savory, and melts in your mouth. The fresh vegetables, tofu, and noodles soak up the flavors wonderfully, and dipping the beef into a silky raw egg adds that authentic, indulgent touch.
Beyond the food, the service is impeccable. The staff are gracious, knowledgeable, and patient, even if you’re new to sukiyaki. The pacing of the meal lets you savor every course without ever feeling rushed.

Really enjoyed our time here; highly recommend.
The place is on the second floor of the building (the restaurant at street level is a...

I came during their grand opening so they were running promotions but the regular prices seemed very reasonable. I ordered the regular sukiyaki set and it was enough to fill me up for lunch. The beef quality was good and I also liked the miso soup and pickled radish. The staff was very friendly and wanted to make sure we knew what we were doing 😊 I’d recommend coming to this restaurant since eating at Nishiki is somewhat difficult. You can always snack there after...
