Craft Beer and Sake Asakura : Kakuuchi Asakura — Restaurant in Kyoto

Run, don’t walk to this wonderful little bar! It was an amazing experience on a Sunday afternoon with Taira and Tai. We got to try multiple different kinds of sake from all over Japan with their tasting menu and even took a couple of bottles home. The bar snacks were great too, especially the potato salad and mackerel sushi. If you’re visiting and a relative newbie to sake, I would strongly recommend just letting them choose the sakes for you! A small hidden gem. The owners of the place are very knowledgeable of their sake and have a very impressive selection for this size of bar. They also have a good craft beer collection as well. The owners were able to recommend to us some amazing sake we've not tried before, and we're very friendly while taking to us about the Japanese history of sake and the various distilleries.

The only reason you shouldn't come is if you're with a large group, as the place is very small. But even if you are I would strongly recommend finding time to break away from that group and enjoy this hidden treasures...

If you're looking for craft beer this is your spot. A variety of craft beers and unique sake. I visited multiple times over my stay in Kyoto. The owners are wonderful!
