In March, I and my boyfriend , my friend, and her boyfriend visited the restaurant . The night before, I called and asked if we could have a seat with a view of the Kamo River. When we visited the restaurant on the day, there were 3 tables for 4 people on the window side. Initially, we were shown a table in the corner, but it felt a little cramped, so we asked the waiter if we could move to the middle seat. Then we were told, 'I can't do it because I have a reservation'. We thought, "There is no special preparation, what?", but we took a seat anyway. Then we ordered 2 sushi sets, 1 sukiyaki set, beef teppanyaki, 2 beers and 1 highball. The staff told us that 'beef teppanyaki takes a long time', but I accepted it. Alcohol arrived 10 minutes later. The restaurant wasn't that crowded when we entered, but it started to get crowded around the time alcohol was served. About 20 minutes later, the seats around us were starting to fill up. 30 minutes later the food still hasn't arrived. Then, the people in the group who came later started being served food first. (And the same sushi menu that we asked for) I had a question, so I asked the clerk. Then she said, "Please wait." Then teppanyaki was served to No. 1 which was said to take a long time. All four of them said, "? "was. I felt very embarrassed because there were two foreigners in the group. I will never go...

The photos of the food displayed outside helped, but the charming drawings on the door and unique approach to Izakaya food drew us in.
If you’re not adventurous or open minded, move along, but if you want a good atmosphere with light and invigorating food, you’ll love this place. Though the menu is Japanese I think they have an English menu.
But you could close your eyes and point to anything and end up with something like a multi-course meal. Washoku in an Izakaya.
Truly just a good enlightening dining experience, that leaves you satisfied and energized, more “genki” than belching with...
Read moreWe dined here today for dinner, 7pm and there’s no other customers. The place was dirty, stained tatami, greasy menu and tables, the 皿 dish they served us was awfully broken with rims of cracks. The gas stove had food scraps scattered on before anything. Food disappointingly was sad, and seasoned strongly that I sincerely couldn’t comprehend how a restaurant that claimed veggies sourced from local could be so bad. Many staffs, smiley all the time, but...
