At the west side of Sanjo Ohashi is the statue of Mr. Yaji and Mr. Kita. Mr. Yaji, who is known as the main character of "Tokaido Nakagiri Kurige", in the story, there is a funny story that a ladder is bought when staying at an inn near Sanjo Ohashi before going to Osaka on the way to Ise. .. This bronze statue was built in 1994 by Sanjo Kobashi Shotengai, a member of the Nikkakai and a sculptor, Yoshitoshi Koyama, and is the god of travel safety and return fulfillment in Saiin Kasuga Shrine. We had you pray at the return shrine. (Source: Sanjo Kobashi Shopping Street Promotion Association) There are two pieces. ① Prayer for safety along the way Fureai Yaji Kita Travel is on the road, the world is compassionate, wishing for safety along the way It's fun to touch, the beginning of the trip Sanjo Kobashi Shopping Street ② Sanjo Kobashi Shotengai Town We cherish the accumulation of history and culture as the gateway to the capital of Kyoto, and all the people who live, work, and gather in the city join forces to "visit, work, live". Aiming for "Deyoshi's Sanjo Kobashi", we will establish "Sanjo Kobashi Shopping Street Town" here. We will create a city center that values the historical nature of the main entrance to the Tokaido and the neighborhood as an introduction to the city. I, Sanjo Dai "Bridge", Sanjo "Kobashi", create a city center where people, things, and things meet. We will create a city center that is kind to people, kind to the environment, and expresses the breathing of people and things. We will create a city center that colors the comfort of safety and security and the feelings of people walking. We will protect and nurture a beautiful life, a beautiful life, a beautiful town, and the sophistication of a beautiful Kyoto. Foster a city center where you can feel the change of the four seasons by getting close to the pure flow of water. February 2005 Sanjo Kobashi Shopping Street Reconstruction Association
