Tempura Sushi Seafood Komefuku Kiyamachi Branch — Restaurant in Kyoto

This is a restaurant or a place for a drink that you DO NOT want to try. The waitress who helped to order the food were super irresponsible. She was not only mean and impolite to us but also ordered us TWO wrong dishes. Yes, two of all dishes!!!(we only ordered total three dishes and two bottle of beer) One was on the menu with picture that I pointed out, the other was on the today’s special menu. There were two dishes on the today’s menu which only in Japanese, and I asked about the detail of dishes and choose the second one, but she DIDNT EVEN LISTEN TO ME. She explained one of them which was beef and she ordered it for us. During the dining, even thought we didn't find out the beef was wrong, we knew the first one with picture was wrong but we just moved on. I thought maybe she was tired that she didn't even know. But when we checked the bill and found out the beef was not the one we ordered, she only said ”oh, the beef is the first one on today’s special menu.” Last, she still want us to pay for the wrong...

It's a good place for tourists to try tempura. We had good service and a cover charge is typical at many restaurants in this area. It is only 300 yen (just under $3 USD) per person. The food was good and if you know anything about Japanese restaurants, you have to be proactive and call the servers if you need anything. This is normal as they don't want to bother you. That is the local custom which may be strange for Americans but would explain the other reviews that complain about service. The food was really good and we found it to be rather affordable. A meal for 4 was around $110 USD and included crab, a large variety of tempura, and a couple of beers each. I've been here a couple times on a trips to Kyoto and everyone I've gone with has enjoyed the food...

It's a good tempura restaurant. I can't speak Japanese but I don't have any problem with the service as others mentioned. It sucks that there is a 300-ish service charge but apparently I've been to many restaurants in the area that do the same thing. No clue why but it is not unique to this restaurant so I won't cut any 🌟 because of that.

Well, it is worth a try and if you love tempura, I think you won't be disappointed with wide range of selections. Regarding its price, it is obviously not cheap, but I can't say it's expensive either. A supermarket near my apt has tempura for just a bit cheaper. If any one thinks this is expensive, I would love to know where I can find tempura...
