Definitely a solid stay at this hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable as was the bathroom. They do an eco cleaning, meaning they don’t go in and make up your bed unless you request it. They leave you clean set of towels each day and fresh garbage bags. You can in turn leave your dirty towels outside your room in the morning in the bag provided, and they will pick them up. I didn’t mind this at all, in fact, I appreciated it. I also had an amenities bar in the lobby where you could get anything that you might have forgotten like a toothbrush, a hairbrush, razor, etc. very thoughtful conveniences. I even tried the herbal patches they had for my sore calves from all the walking we were doing, and they were great! They had a lovely scent, not medicinal at all.
Staff was super friendly and helpful. Let us leave our bags since we arrived early and also let us leave our bags until we were ready to leave Kyoto on our checkout day.
Location was great. A short walk to Gion with subway very conveniently located to visit other sites around Kyoto. Perhaps a little less convenient for Kyoto station to get the Shinkansen but was not a dealbreaker for us.
Hotel was very modern, very clean, the laundry room was great for us as we needed to use it. My only complaint was the breakfast, hence the 4 star vs 5. We didn’t include it in our room charge because we wanted to see how it was, and paying for it extra was the same cost as if we had added it to our room charge, about $10 USD. I found that it was a bit lacking for our taste, which aren’t very high. However, there was a great bakery around the corner a block or two up we went instead.
Definitely a modern, clean, friendly, solid hotel. Would stay there...
Read moreReview Hotel Resol Kyoto Kawaramachi: The service at the front desk was excellent. I have contracted them via email to ask if they could organise our luggages forwarding to our hotel in Tokyo as we don’t want to carry big ones to Fuji. When we arrived to the hotel, everything has been organised. They contacted our hotel in Tokyo to make sure they can store our luggages. We arrived to Hotel Resol before the check-in time, but the receptionist is happily to store our luggages while were were out for sightseeing. Luggages are in the room. The room is nice though it’s small but it was planned well. The slippers so thick and soft. There is yukata and a bag of sanitary in the bathroom. They give out the bag everyday even I don’t use it. You can take it home, the whole bag. It’s waterproof inside the fabric bag. Big bathroom. Bed was comfy. The floor is tatami mat which is way better than carpet. No view from my room though. But it’s ok. We spent most of the time outside anyway. The hotel is located in a very good location. Front of hotel is the new town centre of Kyoto. Back of the hotel is the old town. Awesome! Good price too! There is also coin laundry that is so convenient. We packed winter clothes for this trip as it’s autumn but the weather was like summer so we don’t have enough summer clothes for everyday. This is when laundry became so handy! Did I say the bus stop is in front of the hotel and a subway station is close by too. We caught subway once and taxi three time. Highly recommend this hotel. Te toom@I stayed is the smallest room. There are bigger rooms but we save our money for...
Read moreHotel is few minutes from Kyoto Shiyakusho-Mae station and within walkable distance to Karasuma Oike and Sanjo transfer stations.||Not much suitable if you want to make day trips from Kyoto and therefore Kyoto station, but I consider it great for exploring Kyoto - it is also within walkable distance to Gion and Kiomizudera temple and such (about 30 minutes).||Plenty of shops and eateries around.||Had Japanese modern room with semi-double bed. ||Comfy bed and comfy pillows, quite a spacious bathroom with shower gel, shampoo, comditioner and hand+face foam soap - no more traditionally patterned welcome fabric pouch with amenities, but next to the lobby elevators are biiig choice of amenities to take - even bath salt and cosmetic face mask!||In room - complimentary bottled water, tea, coffee, designer electric kettle, you can also perform your very own little tea ceremony! Loved the beautifully designed tea cups for ceremony.||Bed has dimable lights around the base, good when you don't need or want to turn on room lights.||Hair dryer, slipper and two-piece sleepwear (I have European L/XL size and it fitted me OK) provided.||The most of the room has tatami floor. ||The best room feature for me that I simply loved - window blinds! My room has street view, but thanks to two sliding curtains (thanks to them it could look that the room has no window at all) you can make room dark and silent. Lovely, well done!||Breakfast in hotel restaurant is buffet choice of continental and Japanese.||Hotel offers coin laundry with two washing mashines and dryers.||Loved...
