I went to this Restaurant while I was traveling in Japan. I am gluten free because I am celiac which is a difficult disease when you travel but I never had any problems since I arrived in Japan. I spent few days in Tokyo, Hakone and Kanazawa and have visited and eaten in several places from high end restaurants to very small unpretentious places like street food bars. When I tried to pop in Ganko Sojen, I had no reservation and they were absolutely fine to accommodate my table, the moment I showed my card in Japanese explaining I am gluten free they put me a lot of excuses for to not accommodate my request, I felt extremely offended and disappointed as they have a lot of sushi, sashimi and that it is absolutely fine for me and we tried to explain, but the lack of flexibility and empathy make me feel really bad. I am an expert in the Food and Beverage industry I felt this place as a “wanna be restaurant” with no idea of customer service and the chef has no clue of what flexibility means when I asked just to have dishes that were part of their menu with no changes or amendments.
