This spot is a hidden gem in Arashiyama area. I had a long walk to this spot when it was pouring based on other reviews and it was worth it. Got the highest grade of matcha (called three on the menu) as a latte with no sugar with their homemade ice cream and I have not been able to forget the flavour even after a week. It was a steep cost for a latte but worth it. This is a MUST visit if you are in the area, I’ll never forget it!

Read moreOne of the best Japanese matcha desserts that I have ever had. The shop was really small (and it was kind of located quite remotely from the other tourist spots). Only one staff was in the shop and she would kindly provide recommendations on the desserts from the menu with some English (and mostly Japanese of course). The matcha was really tasty (and freshly prepared) and the pudding was really smooth and rich in flavour. There were only two little spots outside the store for your to sit down and have the desserts and it was quite an experience as well. Highly recommended! P.S. not a good idea...

I understand that there’s a lot of tourists and it’s usually busy and confusing during communication. I speak fairly well Japanese and I had no problem doing any ordering during my trip.
I asked for lids for our drinks because it was raining hard, I’m not sure why the staff was impatient. If there’s anything they cannot provide or against their policy, they can simply explain it and we’ll simply accept it. No need to show attitude.
