Kinchan — Restaurant in Kyoto

Incredibly good It may have been climbing Fushimi-Inari in 39 degree C heat but this was one of the highlights of our recent holiday in Japan. It was authentic, it was delicious, it was superb. The food was amazing, the service was delightful, charming and perfect. despite being busy and struggling with so many foreign customers some of whom were not so polite the waitress exuded charm and the most winning and unassuming character. We delighted in her little run as she hurried from table to table. This was Japanese magic at its best. The food was amazing, the service unbeatable and the value for money was stunning.Even so - we had to order more food as it was SO good. Oh how I wish this was nearby but make no mistake we WILL be visiting again. We would travel many miles to do so. It sincerely rates as one of the most memorable meals I and we as a family have ever had. And did I mention the waitress?...

Really lovely meal. I went with one other vegan, and an omnivore. We got a vegetarian ramen, a vegetarian tantan and our omni friend got a dumpling and tantan set.

So so tasty. The cheaper vegetarian ramen was delicious and brothy, and the tantans were creamy and flavoursome. Everybody noticed that we got a generous serve of bean sprouts and noodles in our soups. Our friend's dumplings were reportedly delicious (not vegetarian though). The server told us we could also get a stir fried veggies and rice set, as another vegetarian option. But do yourself a favour and get the vegetarian tantan!

Great place for a hearty filling meal. Service is prompt and attentive. Serving sizes are larger than the typical Japanese meal. Chinese based food with a low peppery spice factor. English menu available, vegetarian meal available upon request I think. May have smoking allowed inside, did not see any and forgot to ask...
