Bathroom I only met the staff once upon check in. One common bathroom was be shared by 5 rooms of people. All the rooms seemed to be occupied and there should be around 12-15 guests sharing the one bathroom. I waited up to 20 mins for my turn to shower. I also had to sit at the dining table to show my intention that I am queueing to use the bathroom. I was tired after a long day of sightseeing and it was very unpleasant to wait just to shower. The bathroom was flooded to the dry section on multiple occasions and my hubby had to use his hand to remove the hair from the drain. I feel that this should be part of the regularly Housekeeping instead of having a guest to use his hand to pick up and clear away the hair of other guests.
Room The beds were comfortable enough and the heater kept us warm. There were enough bath towels to go around. I was allocated a triple room with windows which I appreciated. However, the noise from the passing vehicles was bad. Fortunately, my family members were not light - sleepers, so we could fall asleep despite the vehicle noise. It would be really bad for light-sleepers. On the third night, the white light in the dining area was left switched on. The light in the 2nd Level Kitchen/Dining Area passed through the frosted panel on my room door.
Location Even though there are two train stations - Fushimi Inari Keihan Station and Inari JR Station . Beware !!! It is not convenient AT ALL. Fushimi Inari Keihan Station which is a little nearer is not connected to Kyoto Station. For JR Pass users, I had to get a separate ticket whenever I want to use this station. For JR Inari Station which is at the door step of Fushimi - Inari Taisha Shrine, it is not a subway type of train. It is a local train that comes by about every 30 minutes. I had to time myself properly to be on time for this train. It is not fast at all. It is time - consuming and it has wasted a lot of my time. If you are pressed for time, choose another place nearer to a subway station which train will come by every 5 mins.
There was no housekeeping at all over the my 3 nights of stay. Even my trash in my trash bin was left untouched throughout my stay.
I paid about S$200 per night for a room for three. I feel that it is not...

Read moreI don't really understand the high reviews, that was my base information to book this place. I would say this place comes in the top 3 of the worse place I got in 2 months of travel in Japan. My room smelt all the odors from the street coming through my window, the window of the corridor or the door of this floor (depends on the wind). I smelt cigarette so much I didn't dare to open my suitcase so the clothes would smell bad afterwards. I could also smell all the fumes exhausted by the kitchen of the restaurant on the 1st floor. The air was filled by particules of fat combustion. My eyes started to feel itchy and my nose started to run. I left the same day. No refund. Nothing. The local team didn't propose me an other bedroom, nor any kind of compensation. They tried to help me a bit by giving me the air purifier of the main hall but the odor was too strong. I think the 3rd and 4th floors are affected by this issue. The only way to solve it would be to have sealed windows, a more efficient exhaust and a complete air intake system with filtration in a proper location. Also the AC in the room has no power. I felt it was a bit cold and could not ajust the temperature. The AC of the lobby is moldy. There is no elevator. My room was on the 4rd floor ! Can you imagine with 1 big suitcase and a cervical issue and 1 carry + backpack! That's the first time in 2 months of travel in Japan I see a hotel with no elevator. The light in lobby is a 5k K led horrible lighting. Very aggressive for the eyes. The coffee is not free but not bad. On the top of that, the street is extremely noisy and the windows barely filter the noise. Really, it was a nightmare for me. And for just few $ more I could had been in a 3 stars hotel.
