Mom and Pop eatery near the Takase River area is the de facto go to for the locals and workers in the area. It’s easy to see why, the meals average 800 yen and the portions are generous. A meal with a sizeable juicy meat cutlet, good curry, fresh crunchy salad, home made pickles, a heaped bowl of rice, toufu n seaweed miso-good broth and a serving of cream pasta plus refillable tea. The generous portions aside, the quality is fresh and prepared with care. The food rivals and beat most restaurants in the city serving similar fare. This very small restaurant has been long loved by the locals or office workers. This is NOT a restaurant for visiters or tourists. And there is only one old woman serving and she can't speak English.
So, it is likely that you vistors are not admitted in the busiest hours, from 11:30 to 13:00. They don't have any discriminatory intention at all. Apparently, they are just worried that regular customers can't have lunch due to increasing visitors. Office workers' lunch break is very short.
You visitors are sure to be welcomed from 13:00 to the closing time 14:30, when there are few customers.

Read moreI wish I can give a good review but I cannot. The food is really tasty, and from the crowd it is obvious this place is a local favourite so I was kinda happy to have found this spot.
But like some of the other reviewers, I was given somewhat bad treatment by this lady. When I tried asking for English menu she immediately wanted to send me out despite that I have been seated. Not only did she not try to help, but not allowing me to self help (we have a lot of translation tool to fill the language barrier, you know?!!)
