Mom and Pop eatery near the Takase River area is the de facto go to for the locals and workers in the area. It’s easy to see why, the meals average 800 yen and the portions are generous. A meal with a sizeable juicy meat cutlet, good curry, fresh crunchy salad, home made pickles, a heaped bowl of rice, toufu n seaweed miso-good broth and a serving of cream pasta plus refillable tea. The generous portions aside, the quality is fresh and prepared with care. The food rivals and beat most restaurants in the city serving similar fare. It also has that umami home made taste u won’t find in commercial eateries. Too good to gate keep. The owners are nice too. Enjoy! 😀 P.s- for non Japanese speakers, u can use Google translate (camera function) on the menu, then just point to the item u want to order. The owner...

FOR VISITORS. I'm a regular customer at this restaurant and feel sorry to see that visitors are sometimes not admitted.

This very small restaurant has been long loved by the locals or office workers. This is NOT a restaurant for visiters or tourists. And there is only one old woman serving and she can't speak English.

So, it is likely that you vistors are not admitted in the busiest hours, from 11:30 to 13:00. They don't have any discriminatory intention at all. Apparently, they are just worried that regular customers can't have lunch due to increasing visitors. Office workers' lunch break is very short.

You visitors are sure to be welcomed from 13:00 to the closing time 14:30, when there are few customers.

Have...

I wish I can give a good review but I cannot. The food is really tasty, and from the crowd it is obvious this place is a local favourite so I was kinda happy to have found this spot.

But like some of the other reviewers, I was given somewhat bad treatment by this lady. When I tried asking for English menu she immediately wanted to send me out despite that I have been seated. Not only did she not try to help, but not allowing me to self help (we have a lot of translation tool to fill the language barrier, you know?!!)

Eventually, I did manage to order with the help of Google review. But I DID NOT appreciate such...

Now this is a special place. One item on the menu which is display on a little whiteboard in Japanese only. So take what you get served. It’s hand cooked by an elderly couple. Prompt service and priced for locals. I was give. Fried chicken with all the mod cons which was delightful. Bit of a gamble but it paid off!
