My visit to Taihou Ramen in Kyoto left me thoroughly impressed. This cozy ramen shop offered a delightful culinary experience that satisfied both my taste buds and my cravings for authentic Japanese ramen.
The ramen itself was the star of the show. Each bowl was expertly crafted, boasting rich and flavorful broth that was perfectly balanced. The noodles had a delightful texture, and the toppings complemented the dish wonderfully. I particularly enjoyed the succulent chashu pork and the perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg.
The ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall experience. It had a traditional yet welcoming atmosphere, providing a comfortable setting to enjoy the meal. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring prompt service throughout my visit.
While Taihou Ramen may not offer an extensive menu, the quality of their ramen made up for it. The limited options actually showcased their dedication to perfecting their craft, as each bowl of ramen was executed with...
Read moreWe got the “solt ramen” on the English menu and it is the best ramen I have ever had. We ate here one night and came back the next night because it is sooooo good! Not only is it good, but is is super close to our hotel, and is priced very well. We tried the Ginjo Ramen Kubota previously (another ramen shop in the area that has higher ratings) and this is definitely better. It has a little bit less meat, but makes up for it in flavor. We also had gyoza and karaage chicken and both were delicious. We wish we would have gotten the mayo karaage chicken instead - check it out when you come here. It is a small place but is very good and very quick. The lemon highballs are really good too - better than the ones that we had at a $100+ shabu shabu restaurant in the area. All around highly recommended. Come here and you won’t be disappointed. If it’s full, just wait outside on the bench for a little bit. Once some space clears, head in and have...
Read moreAfter travelling from Osaka to Kyoto without having breakfast, we were in dire need of some warm hearty ramen for lunch before our check in.
This beautiful little restaurant did not disappoint !! Just a warning that you may have to wait outside on provided chairs, for there to be space inside, but that is always a sure fire indicator that the food is delicious and was definitely worth the wait !
I ordered the spicy ramen (number 2) and was so pleased to be given the perfect amount of spice, enough for flavour but not too much to burn my mouth out. I was given double the amount of noodles needed, and a great amount of pork. They also offer a wide selection of sauces at your table (soy, vinegar, chilli sauce, paprika etc) so we we thoroughly enjoyed our delicious meals.
Along with a nice cold (freshly changed keg) Asahi to wash it down, and great service, we will definitely be back a few times during our stay...
