The Vessel Hotel Campana Kyoto is located very close (1/2 block) to a train station, and it was also very walkable to many attractions. We ended up walking to a majority of the spots we wanted to check out in Kyoto. There was a 7/11 convenient store next door, a Fresco supermarket a few blocks away and numerous restaurants within close proximity. The very BEST part of this hotel is the onsen, which is on-site and open past midnight. The onsen is not too small and not too big, making it a perfectly sized area to relax and soak in the hot bath, cold bath or dry sauna. All the necessary amenities are provided by the property and there were also cables & chargers neatly housed in a small bag within the desk drawer. The Yukatas/PJs provided, were a cute and comfortable pant & top set. The inside room slippers & outside room slippers were both great to have on hand as well.
Our room had a vertical shoe rack, open closet storage space and two movable chairs with a small side table. This was a HUGE factor in making the room more comfortable and a functional space. I highly recommend staying at this hotel for either business or vacation purposes. The rooms are decently sized and bigger than some other Japanese hotels I’ve stayed at. They don’t clean your room on a daily basis, but will provide clean towels and empty trash every morning if you place the used ones/trash outside of your door before 10am. You will need to notify the front desk after two nights stay in order to have your room cleaned, but it was easy to request a cleaning the morning of...
Read moreIts hot spring is the best. Overall it is a good hotel.
We went to Kyoto for a few days and stayed in Vessel Hotel Campana Kyoto Gojo hotel.
Location
This hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the Kyoto main station. We liked it as it was an easy nice walk from the main train station to the hotel, walking through the narrow alley full of old Japanese houses. We don't have to take our luggage up and down the subway. Neither did we need to call and wait for a taxi. It is near the down town and also near the subway. Although it is near to a main road, you won't hear anything as the windows of the hotel room are facing inwards.
Facility
The best facility of this hotel is no doult the HOT SPRING which is extremely nice. Nothing is better than having a nice hot bath ready for you after a day out. However the hotel room is a bit small and a bit dated. The bath room within the hotel room is also small but we never need to use it for a shower as we just use the hot spring.
There is a 7-Eleven outside the hotel. Also there is a 23-hour restaurant. (It closes between 4-5am) opposite to the hotel. On the day we need to go to Universal Studio Osaka in the early morning, we had our breakfast there.
The staff can speak ok English. On the day we stayed, we noticed some European tourists group staying there. It took the staff a long time to get them checked in. Also when the tourists were loud, the staff couldn't handle it. I think it could be one-off situation.
Overall, it is...
Read moreThis hotel serves the best Japanese dishes at their breakfast buffet. I've been to high-end brand hotels in Japan like Conrad, Intercontinental and so on but never eaten something like this hotel serves. They have negi toro and even unagi. I had only 15 mins to eat my breakfast so I didn't even have time to check out western dishes but I bet they had a great selection. I truly loved the breakfast here.
The hotel serves free drink and coffee for customers for certain time which was very nice. There was no water bottles for this reason I guess.
The room was a typical Japanese hotel which was small and tidy. The room temp was adjustable. The bedding and pillow was not the best quality but I was able to sleep okay.
The public bath and sauna was the cherry on top. I enjoyed it.
The location of the hotel was great also. I was happy to take the subway to Kyoto Station in the rain. Btw, distance to Kiyozumi-dera was further than I expected.
I highly recommend this hotel if you would like to stay at a reasonably priced hotel and have an amazing Japanese...
