Food was okay, but the service was the worst I have ever experienced in Japan. From the second we entered the staff couldn’t be less friendly. The supposed ‘nice meal’ was all served within 30 minutes. Not a single dish was explained - each time we had to ask to get even the shortest glimpse of interaction. The staff were cleaning up the whole time while we were eating and made us feel rushed and unwelcomed. Totally unjapanese and would NOT recommend this place to anyone who comes to Kyoto. With seating for only around 10 people you can easily imagine having your own private gourmet meal. We rented out the entire restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our evening there. Just delicious veggies and steak cooked in front of you, very fresh and delicious. The garlic chips were surprising, delicate, and tasty (can I repeat “delicious”?). This will be about a $100 USD per person (including sake). Your heart will be satisfied....
