My first visited went fairly well even though I mistakenly ordered the combo meal which is way more food for one person. I ate and finished all of it. There are two menus (Mainly in English). Looks identical. So.. Be aware!!!! Single items and Combo.
Since this ramen shop is close to my hotel, I figured it was decent and didn’t want to travel further for food. I stop by again for some ramen. I used a traveler recommended translating app Papago to make extra request—extra meat. You can see in my screen shot. I wanted extra chicken meat with extra toppings. I was given extra soup. Not sure the translation to Japanese, I immediately told the clerk (young girl) this is not what I wanted. May I get extra chicken meat? She brought the soup bowl back into the kitchen, and brought back out and put it on the table. Stated, you ordered you keep it in that gesture. After I apologized for the mistake, instead of finding solution to the situation, I felt I was forced to keep the extra soup as you can see in the photo. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I didn’t want to start to eat, but since I will pay either way—might as well eat some. As a protest, I purposely didn’t finish my meal and didn’t even touch the extra soup that I didn’t order. I know a little about the culture. Am sure, the shop know what I just communicated. I paid my bill, and will never return. I will take my business else where. Thank you for serving me, but am okay. No thank you ever again!!!
To sum it up, this is a tourist trap ramen shop. You pay at a higher price for decent to mediocre food. You have a choice. You won’t get these kind of treatment at 7-eleven. Hahahaaaa
Local would not eat here. It is mostly all foreigners from around the world. We don’t know any better.
Although, Lost in translation happened here. I truly believe the ramen shop should have attempt to find a resolution. No attempt or gesture was made. Nevertheless, this ramen shop will not have my business...
Read moreEasily the best chicken broth ramen we've had in the whole of Japan so far. Ramen with chicken broth is rare to find in Japan. Even if they serve ramen with chicken, the broth is usually made with pork bones. So we're delighted to find this restaurant after a walk in Higashiyama old town.
The chicken is slow cooked, the broth is creamy and the noodles are thicker. They're very flavorful.
We combined the ramen with fried chicken rice and they both went very well together. The set pricing is very reasonable.
It's a small restaurant run by one person, so the service is slightly delayed.
They don't have a toilet inside the restaurant, but the one in the nearby apartment building can be used.
They also accept...
Read moreNoodles were ok, young lady staff was extremely rude even though our party of 10 filled the otherwise empty restaurant. She had terrible attitude and didn’t want to serve us, our boy who is 7 came to the table to tell us something, she literally yelled at him to sit down. We bought some snacks at the Lawson next door, which were all unopened. She kept telling us that we were not allowed to eat them even after we confirmed that we wouldn’t. Our daughter has a mochi stick she was eating before going in. She didn’t touch it in the restaurant, but the lady told her off and said it wasn’t allowed. My daughter is 4 years old. Terrible service and highly not recommended, ruined our otherwise beautiful day...
