early dictionary editors encountered immense difficulty in defining the word “perfect.” if they had visited Torihisa (founded in 1896 and thus older than the Oxford English Dictionary) they would not have had such a problem. the sukiyaki course was life-changing, and I say that having eaten sukiyaki quite religiously. the beef melts in your mouth (not an exaggeration), while the assorted vegetables and tofu were selected for their freshness, texture, and crunch. I have never had vegetables from which I could so easilynote the freshness. the yuba sashimi is delicious, and paired with freshly grated wasabi (emphasis on freshly grated), was heaven on earth. the tempura was fried to perfection. the shrimp was phenomenally juicy, while the vegetables were seasoned perfectly. the umeshu and beer selection were also phenomenal, with the service to match. this is, unequivocally, the best restaraunt I have ever been to in Kyoto and...

The whole meal took 3 hours mostly because they are slow. Food isn’t bad but super average for all the trouble I went...
